am Samstag, den 8. Mai, um 20:00 Uhr wird das Theaterstück
„Eine Akte, Zwei Morde“ in Berlin aufgeführt.

Tiyatrom, Alte Jakob Str. 12, 10969 Berlin 

Es geht in dieser Inszenierung der iranischen Theaterregisseurin Niloofar Beyzaie um den
politischen Mord an dem Ehepaar Parwaneh und Dariush Forouhar, die im Jahr 1998 vom
iranischen Geheimdienst neben einer Reihe von weiteren Mordfällen an iranischen Oppositionellen,
Schriftstellern und Intellektuellen in ihrem Haus brutal ermordet wurden.

Das Stück „Eine Akte, zwei  Morde“ ist ein dokumentarisches Theaterstück und basiert auf Fakten,
Dokumenten und Recherchen, sowie vielen Gesprächen mit der Tochter der ermordeten Forouhars, 
Parastou Forouhar. Sie ist eine Künstlerin aus Frankfurt, die bis heute für eine Verurteilung
der Täter und gegen das System in ihrer Heimat – auch mit ihrer Kunst kämpft.
Die Idee zu diesem Stück entstand bei der Theaterautorin und –regisseurin Niloofar Beyzaie schon
vor einem Jahr, die von dem Mut, der Ausdauer und dem Gerechtigkeitssinn Parastous sehr
beeindruckt ist.
Das Stück wird in persischer Sprache mit deutschem Übertiteln aufgeführt und ist somit für ein
nicht persischsprachiges Publikum verständlich.

Nach der Aufführung werden Niloofar Beyzaie und Parastou Forouhar auf Fragen aus dem Publikums
eingehen.

Das Stück „Eine Akte, Zwei Morde“ ist eine Produktion der Theatergruppe Daritsche aus Frankfurt
am Main und wird vom Amt für Wissenschaft und Kunst, Amt für multikulturellen Angelegenheiten
sowie das hessische Ministerium für Wissenschaft und Kunst unterstützt.

The aim of this congress is to push the question about the epistemological function of the category “gender” further, in particular from the perspective of multi-disciplinary and interdisciplinary research. Since the “rupture epistemologique” of the late 18th century science has fabricated tools for sexualizing the
objects of the world, while modern anthropology and biology have contributed to the universalization of gender cosmologies and the ontologization of binary gender codes. While gender studies have challenged this binary construction, they have also had a share in the naturalization of gender by using it as an independent variable. In recent years, however, the critique of gender studies has contributed to a self-critical reflection about methodologies and presumptions underlying research activities in different fields (including gender studies themselves), questioning the notion of knowledge itself.

We invite proposals for papers to be sent by email to gender2010@fbk.eu by April 30, 2010.

Online registration for the conference opens on May 1, 2010, and is 50 Euros (30 Euros for students).

Historisch leitet sich die Walpurgisnacht von Walburga ab, einer Äbtissin aus England (710-779). Der Gedenktag dieser Heiligen wurde im Mittelalter am 1. Mai gefeiert und galt auch als Frühlingsfest, bei dem die Kraft der Natur im Frühling gefeiert wurde: Die neue, helle Jahreszeit wurde mit Freudenfeuern, Tanz,
Gesang und Gelage begrüßt. In der Walpurgisnacht besinnen wir uns der Ahninnen, Großmütter und der weisen alten Frauen und gedenken der vielen unter ihnen, die als Hexen verbrannt wurden.
Die Nacht hält viele Überraschungen bereit und dient auch dazu, am Frauennetzwerk zu knüpfen.
Der Eintritt ist frei, auf eigene Kosten gibt’s Speis und Trank.

2004….an idea sparks into life

The idea and resolve to initiate a women’s museum in Switzerland was the result of a visit to the Austrian Women’s Museum in Hittisau. The exhibition: “Clothing, our second skin” inspired and motivated me.

2005….the spark didn’t catch fire

Contact was taken up with the St. Gallen authorities, the City and the Canton, as well as the History museum – no interest was shown. The statement, a Women’s Museum has to be established in a central position, was able to convince me. However, the inquiries with regard to this were discouraging.

2006….Restructuring

in the private field demanded a lot of energy, time for further development of the project was rare. Making new contacts, above all with private individuals, who possibly could help support the project, was without success. Grounds could be that it appeared to be a hopeless case and too expensive. Also, at that time nobody wanted to be openly and explicitly connected to Women’s projects. Gender themes were “in”.

2007….the journey of a Women’s Museum is spurred on

Visits to different Women’s Museums in Germany and France strengthened me however, to hold on to the idea of a Women’s Museum.ch. I visited all exhibitions in Hittisau and also others in Switzerland, to further my education. Now I took up contact with Women’s groups – also there, hardly any interest was apparent. The Alliance-F informed me that they were planning an exhibition for the future, with the theme “the female look”. This should continue the tradition of exhibitions by SAFFA (Swiss exhibitions for Women’s work).

Giving up did not come into question for me - sitting with my hands in my lap neither.

But I did want to tackle the project in a different way….

2008….the foundation stone is laid

Participation in the 1^st Women’s Museums Congress in Meran:

13.06.08 The symbolic laying down of the foundation stone. The foundation stone for the Women’s Museum.ch should then be brought to Switzerland when the project can be realized. Documents with a model and plan of action were revised and published in a blog on the website www.womeninmuseum.net.The forging of contacts and link to the net did good, it encouraged and strengthened.

2009….participating in an exhibition for the first time

Attending the 2^nd Women’s Museums Congress in Bonn and participating in the exhibition “Women’s Museums worldwide”. I could propose the project idea for the exhibition and in the section “Idols – Role models – Heroines” I introduced Eveline Binsack. A Swiss woman as a heroine, a woman who set herself concrete targets, planned carefully, prepared thoroughly and then followed her path and held out till the end, even when difficulties arose. With the picture of this mountain guide, who was climbing a rock-face, I could clearly represent what was important to me.

The renewed contact with different institutions and individuals – with the aim of forming a group of like-interested people “Woman and Museum”, was now more successful. With the catalogue from the exhibition “Women’s Museums worldwide” I could present something concrete; and thereby show that Women’s Museums already exist in many quite different countries. The position and the structure of these museums was thereby clearly visible and could be shown as an example.

2010….the Interest group “Woman & Museum” is founded

A further milestone on the way to a women’s Museum in Switzerland should now be laid, with the formation of the interest group “Woman & Museum”. An ethnologist, a historian, an Information & Documentation Specialist, all of them women, and the Gosteli-Stiftung (Archive for the History of the Swiss women’s movement) as an institution, are interested in contributing to the formulation and foundation of the interest group(IG) “Woman & Museum”. Some private people have already registered as members. A Museum specialist should also join the group as a practical assistant.

At the 3^rd Women’s Museums Congress in Buenos Aires, two Swiss women, resident there, will participate as delegates for the Women’s Museum.ch.

Kurzbericht über ein Projekt, das einen langen Atem braucht

2004 ….eine Idee zündet

Die Idee und der Entschluss, ein Frauenmuseum in der Schweiz zu initiieren, entstanden nach einem Besuch im österreichischen Frauenmuseum Hittisau. Die Ausstellung: „Kleidung unsere zweite Haut“ haben mich begeistert und motiviert.

2005 ….der Funke springt nicht über

Kontaktaufnahmen zu St. Galler Behörden, Stadt und Kanton sowie dem Historischen Museum. Es bestand kein Interesse. Die Aussage, ein Frauenmuseum müsste an einem zentralen Ort angesiedelt sein, vermochte mich zu überzeugen. Doch diesbezügliche Anfragen waren entmutigend.

2006….Umstrukturierung

im privaten Umfeld nahm viel Energie in Anspruch, Zeit am Projekt weiterzuarbeiten blieb rar. Weitere Kontaktaufnahmen vor allem mit Privatpersonen, die eventuell das Projekt hätten mittragen können, blieben ohne Erfolg. Gründe könnten gewesen sein, dass es aussichtslos und zu aufwändig erschien. Auch wollte sich niemand in dieser Zeit öffentlich und explizit zu Frauenprojekten bekennen. Genderthemen waren „in“.

2007 ….eine Frauenmuseumsreise spornt an

Besuche in verschiedenen Frauenmuseen in Deutschland und Frankreich bestärkten mich jedoch, an der Idee Frauenmuseum.ch festzuhalten. Ich besuchte alle Ausstellungen in Hittisau und auch weitere in der Schweiz, um mich weiterzubilden. Ich nahm nun Kontakt mit Frauenverbänden auf. Auch da war kaum Interesse vorhanden. Die Alliance-F teilte mit, sie plane eine Ausstellung mit dem Thema „der weibliche Blick“ in die Zukunft. Diese soll die Tradition der Ausstellungen der SAFFA (Schweizerische Ausstellung für Frauenarbeit) wiederaufnehmen.

Aufgeben kam für mich nicht in Frage; die Hände in den Schoss legen auch nicht. Aber das Projekt anders angehen, wollte ich schon….

2008 ….der Stein des Anstosses wird gelegt

Teilnahme am 1. Frauenmuseumskongress in Meran: 13.6.08 Symbolische Grundsteinlegung. Der „Stein des Anstosses“ soll in die Schweiz geholt werden, wenn das Projekt realisiert werden kann. Unterlagen mit Leitbild und Vorgehensplan wurden überarbeitet und im Blog der Website www.womeninmuseum.net veröffentlicht. Das Knüpfen von Kontakten und Vernetzen tat gut; es ermutigte und stärkte.

2009 ….an einer ersten Ausstellung mitmachen

Teilnahme am 2. Frauenmuseumskongress in Bonn mit der Beteiligung an der Ausstellung „Frauenmuseen weltweit“. Im Teil Frauenmuseen weltweit konnte ich die Projektidee darstellen. Im Teil „Idole – role-models – Heldinnen“ stellte ich Eveline Binsack vor. Eine Schweizerin als Heldin, die sich konkrete Ziele setzt, sie sorgfältig plant, sich gründlich vorbereitet und dann ihren Weg geht und durchhält, selbst wenn Schwierigkeiten auftauchen. Mit dem Bild der Bergführerin, die eine Wand hochklettert, konnte ich gut darstellen, was mir wichtig ist.

Die erneute Kontaktaufnahme mit verschiedenen Institutionen und Personen - mit dem Ziel, die Interessengemeinschaft „Frau und Museum“ zu gründen - hatte nun mehr Erfolg. Ich konnte mit dem Katalog der Ausstellung „Frauenmuseen weltweit“ etwas Konkretes präsentieren; damit auch zeigen, dass es in verschiedensten Ländern bereits Frauenmuseen gibt. Die Positionierung und die Strukturen dieser Museen wurden dadurch sichtbar und konnten als Beispiele aufgezeigt werden.

2010 ….die Interessengemeinschaft „Frau und Museum“ entsteht

Ein weiterer Meilenstein auf dem Weg zu einem Frauenmuseum in der Schweiz soll nun durch die Bildung einer Interessengemeinschaft „Frau und Museum“ gelegt werden. Eine Ethnologin, eine Historikerin, eine Informations- und Dokumentationsspezialistin und die Gosteli-Stiftung (Archiv zur Geschichte der schweizerischen Frauenbewegung) als Institution sind interessiert, bei der Formulierung der Zielsetzung und der Gründung der IG „Frau und Museum“ mitzuwirken. Auch einige Privatpersonen haben sich bereits als Mitglied angemeldet. Eine Museumsfachfrau als „Praktikerin“ sollte noch hinzukommen.

Am 3. Frauenmuseumskongress, im Mai 2010 in Buenos Aires, nehmen zwei in Buenos Aires wohnhafte Schweizerinnen als Delegierte des Frauenmuseum.ch teil.

International Arts Exhibition ends

First highlight set at “Mama Africa” in The Gambia

The opening in March was quiet a very energetic event: The spirit of the different artworks from artists around the world, the power of the live music and the cultural performance, including the griot and koraplayer Tata Dindin, well-known from the André Heller project: “Afrika! Afrika!”, the engagement of the artist themselves being present and at least the wonderful weather, the nice drinks and the great location of “Mama Africa – women’s museum & art centre”. All this happened at the “International World Women’s Day 2010” in a small village at the Atlantic Ocean called Batokunku: translated from the local language it means “Seaside Garden”.

Now after more than one month the exhibition ends with another lively event: The “Night of the Griots”. Three griots, from The Gambia and Germany, has performed in a wonderful concert inside the gallery. It was a magic and on the other hand a very entertaining night – another multi-cultural experiences in the short period of operating “Mama Africa”. During the last weeks more than 500 visitors have had a look at the exhibition. It was the first time in history of The Gambia that more than 20 artist from around the world exhibiting their works in the small country in West Africa. At the opening and during the time of the exhibition the audience was mostly coming from the international organisations, the diplomatic corps, interested Gambians and tourist; unfortunately no member of the official cultural organisations in The Gambia took the opportunity to attend such kind of unique event. That shows the problems culture is facing in countries like The Gambia. But throughout the power and obligation of Isha Fofana, the proprietor of “Mama Africa” and the only international renowned female Gambian artist, the event ends very successful and has set a milestone in the history of her homeland.

22 female artists from around the world were exhibiting at “Mama Africa – Women’s Museum & Art Centre”. The exhibition was called “Freedom, Equality, Fraternity – For Humans”, it started in The Gambia and will continue as a touring exhibition to other Women’s Museums around the world: Kenya, Germany, Bolivia, and others. Four artists, participating in the exhibition, has been be present at the opening. The event was initiated by the International Artist Association in Germany (www.internationalerkuenstlerverein.de). Isha Fofana, founder of “Mama Africa”, is long time member of this recommended organisation. The exhibition is the first highlight set the Gambian artist after her grand opening mid of February.
