Mit großer Bestürzung haben wir erfahren, dass Narges Mohammadi, Langerpreisträgerin 2009, heute Nacht von der Geheimpolizei verhaftet wurde.
Laut ersten Angaben zeigte die Polizei einen Haftbefehl, aber der Verhaftungsgrund ist ebenso wenig bekannt, wie der Ort, an den sie hingebracht wurde).

Narges Mohammadi, Mutter von zwei kleinen Zwillingen, ist Vizepräsidentin und Sprecherin des von Shirin Ebadi, Friedensnobelpreisträgerin 2003, gegründeten Defenders of Human Rights Center (Zentrums für die Verteidigung der Menschenrechte) und Vorsitzende des National Peace Council. Narges Mohammadis Mann, Taghi Rahmani, ist schon mehrmals verhaftet worden (das letzte Mal im März dieses Jahres). In der letzten Zeit ist Narges Mohammadi, die im November 2009 von ihrem Arbeitsplatz als Ingenieur entlassen wurde, wiederholt verhört worden.

Die Alexander-Langer-Stiftung hat für morgen, den 12. Juni 2010, ein Jahr nach der umstrittenen Präsidentschaftswahl im Iran, eine Unterschriftensammlung zur Unterstützung der Kampagne von United4Iran zur Freilassung aller politischen Gefangenen im Iran organisiert, die ab 10.30 Uhr am Bozner Rathausplatz stattfinden wird. Die Veranstaltung ist Teil des Aktionstages “June 12: Global Day of Action”. Die Liste der politischen Gefangenen im Iran hat sich leider um einen der Stiftung sehr wichtigen Namen verlängert und so wird morgen auch die sofortige Freilassung Narges Mohammadis gefordert werden.

Apprendiamo con sgomento e preoccupazione la notizia dell’arresto di Narges Mohammadi, Premio Langer 2009. Stando alle prime notizie, questa notte agenti della polizia segreta avrebbero fatto irruzione nella sua abitazione mostrando un mandato d’arresto. Motivo dell’arresto e luogo di detenzione non sono noti.

Narges Mohammadi, madre di due piccoli gemelli, è vicepresidente e portavoce del Defenders of Human Rights Center (Centro dei difensori dei diritti
umani) fondato dal premio Nobel per la pace 2003 Shirin Ebadi. Il marito di Narges, Taghi Rahmani è già stato più volte arrestato (l’ultima nel marzo di quest’anno). Voce critica nei confronti del regime, negli ultimi tempi Narges Mohammadi aveva subito numerosi interrogatori. Nel novembre 2009 era stata licenziata dal suo lavoro di ingegnere ispettore.

Così domani, nella manifestazione-raccolta di firme, indetta dalla Fondazione Alexander Langer in piazza Municipio a Bolzano, dalle ore 10.30 in poi, a sostegno della campagna globale promossa da United4Iran per la liberazione delle prigioniere/dei prigionieri di coscienza in Iran in occasione del primo anniversario della contestata rielezione del presidente Ahmadinejad. La lista dei prigionieri/delle prigioniere si è così purtroppo allungata con un nome assai caro alla Fondazione e a questo punto tra le richieste ci sarà anche quella della liberazione immediata di Narges Mohammadi.

News from the International Congress of Women’s Museums IMOW’s VP for Exhibitions and Programs Recaps Museum Conference
Catherine King, the museum’s Vice President for Exhibitions and Programs has just returned from Buenos Aires where she represented IMOW at the 3rd International Congress of Women’s Museums, held from May 24-25. This 2010 convening was co-hosted by the women’s museums of Argentina, Costa Rica, Mexico and Peru, and representatives from six continents attended! Although diverse in locations, size and area of focus—from history, to art to culture—all museums in the network espouse a commitment to improving the visibility of women’s contributions to society. Many women’s museums are dedicated to the experiences of women in specific regions, but IMOW is unique in its focus on amplifying the voices of women worldwide. As a museum with a global focus, IMOW is especially excited to continue its engagement as a part of this growing network and we look forward to bringing you news from our sister museums around the world. Vom Abwasserkanal zum Naturerlebnis — zwölf Kunstinstallationen in und an der Seseke

Ausstellung 13. Juni - 26. Sept. 2010 - Ein Projekt im Rahmen von RUHR.2010

Kunst als Zeichen des Wandels - die Seseke, ein Fluss, der bei Lünen in die Lippe mündet, wird durch den Lippeverband vom Abwasserkanal zum naturnahen Gewässer umgebaut. Kunstwerke an zwölf verschiedenen Orten entlang des 19 Kilometer langen Sesekelaufes und seinen Nebenläufen Körne, Rexe, Massener Bach und Braunebach begleiten den Renaturierungsprozess — ideal für eine Radtour durch die sich wandelnde Landschaft. Die Standorte der Kunstwerke befinden sich in den Städten Lünen, Bergkamen, Kamen, Bönen, Dortmund und Unna.

Die unterschiedlichen Stadien des Seseke-Umbaus bieten den Künstlern viel Raum für Inspiration: “Die Verknüpfung von Kunst mit großräumigen Umbauarbeiten und ökologischen Prozessen ist neu, spannend und innovativ. Man wird Zeuge, wie sich die Menschen den bislang weißen Raum auf der Landkarte wieder zurück erobern. Die Installationen und Interventionen beziehen sich alle auf die sich verändernde Landschaft, den vom Korsett befreiten Fluss. Teils geben sie Anregungen zur Aneignung, teils überhöhen sie den Aspekt der Neugestaltung, stellen Fragen nach den ,schönen Linien’ einer Flusslandschaft oder nehmen sie mit skurril schrägen Interventionen in den Fokus”, so Billie Erlenkamp, Kuratorin des Projekts, das im Rahmen von RUHR.2010 stattfindet.

In Lünen taucht ein obskures Stahl-Gebilde aus der Seseke auf. Man sieht zeitweise mehr, zeitweise weniger - je nach Wasserstand eine nie ganz sichtbare Form, die dem Betrachter die Möglichkeit einräumt, sich phantasievolle Geschichten zu den von Diemut Schilling stammenden Wasserwesen auszumalen. In Kamen läuft die Seseke unter einer Hochstraße durch, ein Ort, der von Beton dominiert ist. Für den Zeitraum der Ausstellung hat das Künstlerduo Winter / Hörbelt dort Lichtschaukeln installiert, die Farbe und Licht an den Ort bringen - und zum Verweilen einladen. Auf der bereits umgestalteten Körne lässt die Klasse Löbbert der Kunstakademie Münster ihren “Kahn” zu Wasser. Ein Boot, das als Ausstellungsort dient und die wöchentlich wechselnden Künstlerarbeiten der Studierenden zeigt.

Unter den Kunstinstallationen finden sich Landschaftskunst (Thomas Stricker, Susanne Lorenz, Diemut Schilling), interaktive Projekte mit den Menschen vor Ort (Jeroen Doorenweerd, Danuta Karsten), begehbare bzw. schaukelbare Skulpturen (Winter / Hörbelt) sowie humorvolle Inszenierungen (Bogomir Ecker). Die meisten der Kunstwerke werden dauerhaft - auch nach Ausstellungsende - vor Ort verbleiben und vom Lippeverband unterhalten werden, andere - wie die Installation “Kahn” - sind temporär angelegt. Gewässer: Seit 1988 arbeiten wir am Seseke-Programm, 2010 wird die Umgestaltung des Fluss-Systems größtenteils abgeschlossen sein. Wir freuen uns, dass wir dies mit dem Kunstprojekt ÜBER WASSER GEHEN feiern können, indem die Seseke-Renaturierung mit künstlerischen Mitteln begleitet wird”.

Eröffnung am Sonntag, 13. Juni 2010

Die Eröffnungsveranstaltung von ÜBER WASSER GEHEN findet am Sonntag, 13.
Juni 2010, um 11.00 Uhr am Stillen Weg im Zentrum von Kamen statt. Dazu spielt die Big Band der Kamener Musikschule auf, es gibt Angebote für Kinder, geführte Radtouren und vieles mehr. Außerdem werden die Künstlerinnen und Künstler anwesend sein und später bei ihren Kunstwerken für Gespräche zur Verfügung stehen.

Ab 13 Uhr finden geführte Rad- und Busexkursionen statt. Die Festgäste werden gebeten, ihre eigenen Fahrräder mitzubringen, darüber hinaus steht ein kleines Kontingent von 50 Leihrädern zur Verfügung. Die Fahrrad-Exkursionen enden wahlweise am Permakultur-Objekt von Doorenwerd in Lünen, an den “Stufen zur Körne” von Danuta Karsten in Dortmund-Kurl oder an der Installation von Bogomir Ecker in Bönen. Von Lünen und Kurl fahren ab 16.30 Uhr Shuttle-Busse zurück nach Kamen. Zusätzlich veranstalten die Beckinghauser Vereine ab Mittag ein buntes Fest am Standort der Plastik von Diemut Schilling am Asternweg in Lünen.

Radtour zu ÜBER WASSER GEHEN

Natur, Ausstellung und Wissenschaft — der neue Radweg, den der LIPPEVERBAND entlang der Seseke anlegt, bietet eine interessante Mischung für Erholungssuchende: Der Radweg führt von Bönen bis zur Sesekemündung in die Lippe bei Lünen. Der erste Abschnitt vom Eilater Weg in Kamen bis zum Asternweg in Lünen wird bis zum Ausstellungsstart zu ÜBER WASSER GEHEN am 13. Juni schon befahrbar sein. Während der Ausstellungszeit finden am Weg noch Restarbeiten statt, es kann dadurch zu Behinderungen kommen.

Über die Bahnhöfe Lünen, Kamen und Bönen ist die Kunst-Route zu ÜBER WASSER GEHEN am besten zu erreichen. Fahrradverleihe bzw. Radstationen befinden sich an den Bahnhöfen Bönen, Kamen, Kamen-Methler, Lünen und Unna.

Um die Region mit dem Fahrrad selbst zu erkunden, bietet die Sonderauflage der “Lippe-Tour 1″-Karte (Ausgabe Mai 2010) mit dem Schwerpunkt ÜBER WASSER GEHEN eine optimale Grundlage. Inhalt der Karte sind drei unterschiedlich lange Routen sowie Wissenswertes zum Seseke-Umbau und Sehenswürdigkeiten am Wegesrand. Die Radkarte ist an zahlreichen Infoständen in der Region gegen eine Schutzgebühr von einem Euro erhältlich.

The living element – i.e. the body and the event actualised by means of performance arts (live art, body art, happening, performance interventions or actions) are undoubtedly experiencing, both in contemporary art as well as contemporary performing arts, a revival. The symposium Performative Gestures – Political Moves draws the attention of the City of Women - starting with the European project A Space for Live Art and with the guest exhibition and accompanying events, entitled Re.Act.Feminism (V?igalica gallery, March 2009) – to this processual and heterogeneous art form that combines the elements of dance, music, video and visual arts, as well as new media.

The symposium highlights in particular the performance practices of Eastern European women artists addressing various notions, theoretisations and historisations of hegemonial (neo-imperial and neo-colonial) narratives of the art system that characterise both production as well as receptive frames of artists’ expression within this art form.

Based on the fact that the term »Eastern Europe« itself has experienced a peculiar institutionalisation within the art system, the symposium Performative Gestures – Political Moves will provide a platform to reconsider the decolonisation strategies of the Eastern European notion and a (self)reflection of curatorial practices and the historisation of art projects in the region of Eastern Europe.

Kiana Firouz, 27 years old, is an outspoken Iranian LGBT rights
activist, filmmaker, and actress. When clips of her video documentary
work featuring the struggle and persecution of gays and lesbians in her
country were acquired by Iranian intelligence, agents began to follow
Firouz around Tehran, harassing and intimidating her. She fled for
England where she could safely continue her work and studies.

She plays a starring role in Cul de Sac, a documentary film produced in
the UK about the condition of lesbians in Iran, and based heavily on
Firouz´s own life story. Directed by Ramin Goudarzi-Nejad and Mahshad
Torkan, the movie willpremiere in London in a few days. Since the
trailer was posted on YouTube in December 2009, Cul de Sachas attracted
global media attention, with thousands of views. Apparently, some of
those views included members of Ahmadinejad´s puppet media in Iran. They
know who Firouz is and what she stands for. They want her to come back
to the country she was born in to answer for it.

Firouz, understandably, has requested asylum from the British
government. Much to everyone´s shock and dismay, the British Home Office
has rejected her application for refugee status. Yes, they know she´s
gay. Yes, they know she could be deported back to Iran at any time, and
that if this happens, Firouz will most likely be sentenced to torture

homosexuality” because she has participated in explicit lesbian sex
scenes in the movie, and been a fierce proponent for human rights in her
country.

In Iran, the punishment for lesbianism involving mature consenting women
consists of 100 lashes. This punishment can be applied up to three
times. After a fourth violation of Iranian law, a woman convicted of
“unrepentant homosexuality” is finally executed by hanging, often
publicly, in front of a howling mob.
