Take I.M.O.W.’s Survey and Benefit Haiti

It’s a new decade, and I.M.O.W. is looking to the future with a new strategic plan for the organization—but we need your help! Please take our survey and help us determine the future of I.M.O.W.’s Web site and community. We want to know what you like about the Web site, what you want to see improved and how you think I.M.O.W. can better make a difference!

For every person who completes the survey, I.M.O.W.’s board will donate $1 to the Global Fund for Women’s Crisis Fund to support our sisters in Haiti, for at least the first 2,000 respondents.

Please help a good cause and support I.M.O.W.! The survey should only take a few minutes. Your opinion is invaluable to us!

Economica: Spotlight on Africa

Diverse Portraits of Women and the Economy from Across the Continent

Africa’s economic future remains uncertain: Africa is the world’s poorest inhabited continent, yet it is rich in natural resources. It continues to grow economically despite the global financial crisis. So where do African women fit in? This week, we spotlight stories in Economica: Women and the Global Economy that show women’s changing roles in African economies.

  • MULTIMEDIA: Africa’s New Entrepreneurs>> A Camfed program in rural Zambia trains high school graduates in business skills and prepares them to launch their own, sustainable enterprises, all with the goal of fighting poverty and HIV/AIDS by investing in women.
  • NEW VISIONS: Africa, China and Women>> The economic relationship between Africa and China is full of potential successes and pitfalls, says Hafsat Abiola, founder of China Africa Bridge and I.M.O.W. Global Council Member. But now, both countries have a secret weapon: women, their greatest untapped resource.
  • COMMUNITY VOICE: Tanzania Unlimited, Ltd.>> Mathilde Jansen’s photography showcases Tanzania’s growing economy, and reveals that while new industries are a boon to the nation’s economy, participation in the global market also creates cultural tension.

Explore all of the stories in Economica, and leave a comment or recommend your favorites!  We also want to see your work. To submit to Economica, visit our Call for Submissions page for more information.
